This project is a subproject (B02) of the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 150 with the title: Turbulent, chemically reactive, multi-phase flows near walls.

The subproject B02 deals with the Direct Numerical Simulation of two parallel impinging jets with a variable concentration- and temperature distribution of Nitrogen streams. It is the digital twin of another subproject A06 investigating the same configuration under a number of varying parameters: Reynolds number, angle of attack, density, temperature, velocity as well as hydraulically smooth and rough walls.

The computed turbulent statistics will be used by another subproject B03 for the modelling of velocity-concentration, velocity-temperature and concentration-temperature correlations. The novelty of this investigations is that it will, for the first time, consider two different boundary conditions at the imping wall, const. temperature as well as const. heat transfer rate at the impinging wall.

The new and/or improved turbulence models of the above mentioned correlations will be subsequently used by the more applied subproject C03 and C05 dealing with realistic geometries of internal combustion engines.
